[Updated 5/30/13] You should fish fish, not eels

Well, after almost a week I have a great advance of my next game: Fishing Brothers.

Avoid the eels and fish as much as you can!

There are two fishermen in a boat trying to get as much fish as in two minutes. The water is full of fish, but some eels also live there. Be careful! Eels can paralyze you!
Please install the latest version of Java to play this game. You can find it on http://www.java.com
I have made this game in Java with the game engine GTGE. All the graphics and code are mine and the music is from Erick Leedberg (@erikocho) (nice tune isn't it?). Special effects are from Soungle.com and the font is from OpenGameArt.org.

You can see my post on the Fishing Game Jam forum here.

You need Java installed on your computer or device to run the game. (Next is going to be on HTML5, I promise.)
Enjoy fishing!
Don't forget to tweet me your best score!

UPDATE (5/30/13) I have added more graphics: a new background, buttons, instructions and credits. I also tried to implement a Player-vs-PC mode but it is not as I expected. I will try to do it!

You've got fishslapped

So I've decided to join the Fishing Game Jam to challenge myself and see other's games. The first week is over and there are like 25 games released of more than 100 planned.

Yesterday I finished my third prototype and I decided to celebrate trying other's games. And I really like this one I'll show you right now.

It is Hokuto no Kuchen, a small action game where you are a little girl that has to help her dad with the fish... jumping over it. However the fish are quite rude, and if you don't watch out, you could get fishslapped!

I really enjoyed this game: the idea is neat and based on a real life experience, the graphics are simple but fun, so does the gameplay and the music is cool!

In my opinion, the best part is when you get fishslapped.

So here it is. You can play it online in this link.
You can also review the post in the Fishing Game Jam of this game.

My personal score is 3... The best score last night was 30.

Indies and the new XBox One

The web is a sea full of information, and this sea increases every second.

With the new XBox One, lots of articles in the Internet apperared related to it, but I want to share here one side of this launch: Indies and the new XBox One.

Most opinions imply that XBox is anti-indie, but it might be too early.
I prefer to read a wide range of opinions, so I share here some articles about this topic.

Any contribution is highly appreciated.

Hats, baits, a boat and a game engine: Fishing Game Jam

Well, it is said that when life gives you lemons you should make lemonade. Thus, when there is a game jam, don't stay lurking and join in.

This opportunity comes in with a fresh fish smell: the Fishing Game Jam. In few words: make a fishing related game whithin this week. No matter the plataform, no matter the genre. It is just about fishing.

Personally, I have no experience about fishing but I can manage that with other's experiences. How? Asking, videos, pictures, etc.

So if you have some time, and needed a topic for a game, then this is a great opportunity to make a game-nade.

Similarities with real world are just coincidence.

Well this is my first shiny game. "My Little Random Brother" idea came so fast that I can not remember why I chose that theme. Anyways, I like it and I was aiming to complete a game for #1GAM.

You are the big sibling of this baby who cries a lot. Your task, is to calm him down. That simple, huh? That's why I implemented hard level. (Ok, it is just a simple number).

So, no more words. Here is the link to download the game folder. (You have to unzip all and make sure the jar file is next to the lib and resources folder)

myLittleRandomBrother.rar (641 kB)

This is an online version of the game. As I tested, it runs quite slowly, maybe very hard code. Enjoy it!

Here, some snapshots.

Finally, I used GTGE game engine, and audios in Soungle. All the drawings are mine. Font in Open Game Font.

Enjoy it!

The very beginning,...

Hello world! My name is Daniel and I aim to be a video game developer. There are plenty ways to start from, but I chose the best one: develop some games.

So I created this bolg to share and show to the world my work and other's. So less talk, more action.
